How the Blackjack came to be...
One day I was talking to my friend Philip McCaleb from Genuine Scooters about, well, scooters. Phil is an interesting guy often with somewhat unconventional ideas. On this particular day, he had the idea stuck in his head that we needed to have a flat black Buddy.
A flat black Buddy...okay...I'm in.
The different concepts and names were all over the table. At some point, we came to the conclusion that a scooter inspired by the legendary hotrods of the 50's was in the cards.

Just for kicks, I built a prototype out of an '06 I took in on trade and sent some pictures to Phil.

Following suit, Phil built a second prototype and totally tricked out with NCY performance brakes, NCY performance suspension, a solo seat with red piping, and the powerful 150cc engine with a tuned exhaust. When Prototype 2 was unveiled at the Genuine Scooter Dealer Meeting, everyone flipped. And then he did something only a madman would do... he made it a production model, the 2009 Black Jack 150
.

I knew for sure we had a winning hand when the Black Jack 150 Phil sent as a gift showed up at Metro Scooter. Thanks Phil!
